UNI gathers, composes and distributes one-minute video and text news reports. UNI separates news reporting from opinion and analysis and has developed a successful anchored format designed around consumer's increasingly digital, social and mobile lives.
UNI currently has 30 worldwide employees with City Desks in New York City, Washington, D.C., Manila and Tokyo. Our company is in final preparations of moving our global headquarters to Nashville and then begin scaling up to several hundred employees over a 24-month period. We need to hire up to 2 assignment editors in May 2018.
Who we are looking for
A talented and reliable assignment editor to assign our fair-use one-minute news reports. We are looking for someone who is fast, efficient and has excellent news instincts and judgment.
Ability to scan and assess 500 to 2,000 global headlines daily.
Ability to make and track assignments for Nashville writing staff and more than half a dozen anchors in five time zones.
Ability to strike a balance between breaking news and other news, such as business, science, technology, health, entertainment and politics.
Knowledge of international news preferred, particularly in Southeast, East and South Asia.
Prefer (not required for the right applicant) one-year relevant experience in deadline-driven newsroom.
Undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
Ability to stay calm and communicate clearly under pressure.
Be creative with a positive attitude and a motivated team player.
After the review period the newsroom staff salaries range from $24,000 to $42,000. Our mid-manager salaries are currently in the range of $45,000 to $70,000.
