United News International - UNI is a global fair use news agency with a global monthly reach of 200 million and a Facebook fan base of 3.7 Million and billions of one minute news report views in every country on earth. UNI gathers, composes and distributes one-minute video and text news reports. UNI separates news reporting from opinion and analysis and has developed a successful anchored format designed around consumer's increasingly digital, social and mobile lives.
UNI currently has 30 worldwide employees with City Desks in New York City, Washington D.C., Manila and Tokyo. Our company is in final preparations of moving our global headquarters to Nashville and then begin scaling up to several hundred employees over a 24 month period. We need to hire 4 writers in May 2018.
Who we are looking for
A talented and reliable copywriter to help compose our fair use one-minute news reports. We are looking for someone who is fast and efficient.
Ability to research any topic on the Internet quickly and accurately.
Scrupulous attention to facts, accuracy, fairness and objectivity.
Undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
Prefer (not required for the right applicant)1-year relevant experience in deadline-driven newsroom.
Have good interpersonal skills. Be a dependable, quick thinker with an eye for detail.
Be creative with a positive attitude and a motivated team player.
Starting at $11.50 per hour, with review after 90-days. Full-time employees offered stock options. After the review period the newsroom staff salaries range from $24,000 to $42,000. Our mid manager salaries are currently in the range of $45,000 to $70,000.

To assess whether you're a fit for our newsroom, we require applicants to research and write an original 150-word broadcast-style news report covering the basic Who - What - When - Where of a recent news event in East Asia or Southeast Asia.
